* Replace bluetooth Readme with corrected version from devices repository (#36429)Alex Touchet2025-04-101-36/+146
| | | | | | | | | This Readme is for a different crate located in https://github.com/servo/servo/tree/main/third_party/blurmac. Was adding it to the bluetooth directory in #30974 a mistake? --------- Signed-off-by: Alex Touchet <26315797+atouchet@users.noreply.github.com>

* Include `WebViewId` into EmbedderMsg variants where possible (#35211)Delan Azabani2025-01-302-6/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | `EmbedderMsg` was previously paired with an implicit `Option<WebViewId>`, even though almost all variants were either always `Some` or always `None`, depending on whether there was a `WebView involved. This patch adds the `WebViewId` to as many `EmbedderMsg` variants as possible, so we can call their associated `WebView` delegate methods without needing to check and unwrap the `Option`. In many cases, this required more changes to plumb through the `WebViewId`. Notably, all `Request`s now explicitly need a `WebView` or not, in order to ensure that it is passed when appropriate. * api: Flatten and simplify Servo preferences (#34966)Martin Robinson2025-01-141-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Flatten and simplify Servo's preferences code. In addition, have both preferences and options passed in as arguments to `Servo::new()` and make sure not to use the globally set preferences in `servoshell` (as much as possible now). Instead of a complex procedural macro to generate preferences, just expose a very simple derive macro that adds string based getters and setters. - All command-line parsing is moved to servoshell. - There is no longer the concept of a missing preference. - Preferences no longer have to be part of the resources bundle because they now have reasonable default values. - servoshell specific preferences are no longer part of the preferences exposed by the Servo API. * fix conditional logic that enables native bluetooth (#31073)Mukilan Thiyagarajan2024-01-124-158/+151
| | | | | | | | | | | | PR #30974 integrated `servo/devices` repo into servo codebase. `servo/devices` exposed the `bluetooth` feature to conditionally compile native bluetooth support for the target platform. In servo, this feature is indirectly enabled via the `native-bluetooth` feature exposed by `components/bluetooth`. When `servo/devices` was integrated to servo, the conditional code was not updated to use the `native-bluetooth` feature directly. Signed-off-by: Mukilan Thiyagarajan <mukilan@igalia.com>
* Integrate the `devices` respository (#30974)Martin Robinson2024-01-098-14/+1725
| | | | | | | | | | Despite the name of this dependency, it only handles bluetooth. Because it's a separate repository. Integrating it, allows changes here to be tested more consistently. In addition, it's likely that new bluetooth libraries will allow removing the majority of the platform-specific code in this directory. This is based on the version of this dependency from: https://github.com/servo/devices/pull/34
* Move `*_traits` and other shared types to `shared`Martin Robinson2023-11-031-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | This is the start of the organization of types that are in their own crates in order to break dependency cycles between other crates. The idea here is that putting these packages into their own directory is the first step toward cleaning them up. They have grown organically and it is difficult to explain to new folks where to put new shared types. Many of these crates contain more than traits or don't contain traits at all. Notably, `script_traits` isn't touched because it is vendored from Gecko. Eventually this will move to `third_party`.

* Start the transition to workspace dependenciesMartin Robinson2023-05-171-4/+4
| | | | | | | This will ultimately make it simpler to update crate dependencies and reduce duplicate when specifying requirements. Generally, this change does not touch dependencies that are only used by a single crate. We could consider moving them to workspace dependencies in the future.
* feat: shorten thread namesyvt2021-07-191-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The Linux kernel imposes a 15-byte limit on thread names[1]. This means information that does not fit in this limit, e.g., the pipeline ID of layout and script threads, is lost in a debugger and profiler (see the first column of the table below). This commit shortens the thread names used in Servo to maximize the amount of information conveyed. It also rectifies some inconsistencies in the names. | Before | After | |-------------------|-------------------| | `BluetoothThread` | `Bluetooth` | | `CanvasThread` | `Canvas` | | `display alert d` | `AlertDialog` | | `FontCacheThread` | `FontCache` | | `GLPlayerThread` | `GLPlayer` | | `HTML Parser` | `Parse:www.examp` | | `LayoutThread Pi` | `Layout(1,1)` | | `Memory profiler` | `MemoryProfiler` | | `Memory profiler` | `MemoryProfTimer` | | `OfflineAudioCon` | `OfflineACResolv` | | `PullTimelineMar` | `PullTimelineDat` | | `ScriptThread Pi` | `Script(1,1)` | | `WebWorker for h` | `WW:www.example.` | | `ServiceWorker f` | `SW:www.example.` | | `ServiceWorkerMa` | `SvcWorkerManage` | | `Time profiler t` | `TimeProfTimer` | | `Time profiler` | `TimeProfiler` | | `WebGL thread` | `WebGL` | | `Choose a device` | `DevicePicker` | | `Pick a file` | `FilePicker` | | `Pick files` | `FilePicker` | [1]: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/5026531/thread-name-longer-than-15-chars

* Make `mach test-unit` not recompile components after `mach build`Simon Sapin2018-10-071-3/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Previously, the `tests` feature flag of the `embedder_traits` crate caused it and every crate recursively depending on it to be built twice. This feature flag was used to provide a specific set of "resources" when running tests. Instead, this commits overrides the `main()` function of the test harness to change resources at runtime before running any test. This is done by adding a dependency that has `name = "test"` in its `[lib]` section of `Cargo.toml`. This overrides the crate found by `extern crate test;` in code generated by `rustc --test`.
